Welcome to my new adventure!
Who: Hi! I’m Chessa, a librarian-by-training, but current stay-at-home-homeschooling-mom (OMG so many hyphens!). I live in Montana, by way of Seattle, suburban Detroit, Portland, Eugene, the lakes region of NH, and NC. I’ve been around. I have two children, a husband, two sister kitties and one good bad rescue dog.
What is this place: My reading blog! I plan on publishing reading goals, reviews, challenges I’m participating in, lists of interesting reads that I think you might enjoy. I’m a BIG book nerd and I thought it was time to put everything in one place.
Why are you doing this: Around December 2015, the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge of 2016 made its way in front of my eyeballs. I’ve always considered myself to be a pretty hearty reader, but WHOA NELLY, that challenge awoke some bonkers super passion that was just hanging around under the surface waiting to be realized (it also coincided with my youngest child being 6, which apparently meant I was freed up to make up for 10 years of lost reading time). I did SO much research on my book selections for that challenge, started following other book sites, listening to bookish podcasts, doing other reading challenges, and WAY increasing the time I spent reading. I went from reading around 30 books in 2015 to 176 in 2016! The more I read, the more I wanted to read. My TBR is ridiculous, and I like it that way!
So what? Well, I’ve found that friends (in real life and social media) like my reading recommendations and I looooove to connect people with good books, so I thought I’d give this a shot. I tend to be a bit of a synthesizer, so I’m looking forward to the blog format so that I can go beyond just reviews.
When can I expect you to post: I get super twitchy with outside deadlines and it makes me dread stuff and then not do it. My goal is to post twice a week, but I reserve the right to change mah mind.
